Acro or Acrodance is the " beautiful fusion of traditional dance and acrobatic movement”
Our Acro classes are very popular and our pupils thrive in them!
We follow the highly regarded Acrobatic Arts syllabus and are certified Acrobatic Arts teachers. The Acrobatic Arts syllabus builds skills securely as the levels progress so that dancers are building strength and flexibility equally and learning skills in a safe and controlled way. Acrobatic Arts is the leading programme for Acro in dance schools and is endorsed by Cirque du Soleil.
What's the difference between Acro and Gymnastics?
The main difference is Acro is designed to be performed within dance choreography in shows, on hard floors rather than Gymnastics which is performed on a sprung gym floor. As such the technique of some skills vary slightly to protect a dancers body. As Acro is the fusion of dance with acrobatic skills, the two should seamlessly blend into dance choreography.
We offer Acro for children from the age of 4 and offer 4 different Acro classes, which are based on ability primarily, not age.
Each class includes cardio warm up, strength and flexibility training and drills and then work on skills.
All Acro pupils must attend at least one dance class in addition to their Acro class and we find Ballet and / or Modern to compliment Acro the best.
